MISSION // Spring Opening is an event that showcases the wonderful diligence of participating Asian-interest student organizations on campus. The event is a collaboration with AHM as the main organizer, consisting of tabling clubs from respective cultural groups, student performances, a selection of ethnic food, and prizes to win throughout the night. Best of all, it aims to welcome as many as possible by being accessible and free.

Spring Opening has had a stigma of being too East Asian and that does not bode well for an umbrella Asian-interest group that aims to be inclusive of diversity. This year, to avoid the attachment of being associated with the Lunar New Year, AHM has decided to combine Opening Ceremony and Spring Festival to commence Asian Heritage Month.

The theme is simple and sticks closer to the idea of spring and new beginnings.
CONCEPT // Spring consists of blue skies and green pastures, and thus I have included both into a melded background of watercolor texture with both colors. The flowers used in all the designs are meant to symbolize the first blooms of spring. The poster utilizes cherry blossoms instead, while the other, smaller designs are made up of general pink flowers.

Square versions are handy to use for Instagram promotions and symmetrical formats. Stamp cards are used to encourage attendees to visit clubs tabling and participate in activities to collect stamps before receiving a bubble tea. Meanwhile, the rectangular version is meant to stretch to fit the actual event page and any profile cover photos.
