AHM CLOSING CEREMONY: END.
Asian Heritage Month at NYU is held annually on April in celebration of Asian and Asian-American culture. Asian-interest organizations on campus work tirelessly to arrange their biggest events of the year for April, and AHM, as an umbrella group, seeks to open and close the month with ceremonies.

MISSION // "END." is the title of Asian Heritage Month at NYU's Closing Ceremony to be held on May 1st at New York University. It is a free event dedicated to the students in the hopes of promoting Asian-American talent through the performance of two Asian-American DJs, Yetep and Hex Cougar, to headline the event. This event is the first ever Asian-American EDM dance party at NYU and is free for everyone.

The main theme for the graphic is to emphasize an EDM concept that has never been done before by Asians or Asian-Americans at New York University. It is difficult to draw in attendees with a restriction of "Asian" that creates a barrier—the idea of a rave is meant to appeal to people of all backgrounds regardless of their ethnicity.

I wanted to incorporate both the concept of EDM and New York City as a whole, but also still highlight Asian Heritage Month as an organization.

The final result is an amalgamation of hours of work and suggestions.
CONCEPT // The blue theme is one the organization has agreed to do and is what I settled with. Smoke is a common component of EDM or rave posters, representative of the fiery atmosphere. New York City is displayed in the background, both top and bottom, to create a more hypnotic state with an almost apocalyptic theme ("END."). The painted circle behind the title is part of the AHM logo and is inserted into the design to highlight the organizing club. Light streaks are used to further enhance the vibe of the design while also adding a splash of red to the sea of blue as a representation of Asian culture.

In addition to the general event poster, a variation of the design is implemented into various formats to increase outreach through social media. The main platform that AHM uses is Facebook for event promotion.
Square versions are handy to use for Instagram promotions and symmetrical formats. Facebook filters are layered over profile pictures without covering the center and focus. Meanwhile, the rectangular version is meant to stretch to fit the actual event page and any profile cover photos.
